I was there when he died
Brutally murdered by what once was his friend
He never saw it slowly pick him away
He bravely fought as long as he could
Held up by dreams and wishes
But the murderer cut his lifeline away
With his dying breath, he told me (how typical of him)
"I can always be found again despite what you think"
So I've lost him and with him my future
With a bittersweet laugh and a cry
I exclaim for all to hear the tale
How my best friend, my love, my savior
Is gone from my life for all time
Remnants of him are still visible everywhere
Mostly in children, it seems, who have not yet learned to let go

I was there when he died
Blissful hope murdered by cruel reality

I wrote this while suffering from a depression episode... When I felt like all my hope was gone.

I'm feeling better now, though, so that's good. ^^;

Despite what this poem says, there is always hope. <3

Still, reality sure could stand to take a few pointers from hope... It sure sucks sometimes. -_-;

wow! I've just loved your lines. Really deep, and so intese! strong lines, they gave me desolation and sadness. There are some lines (for example ""I can always be found again despite what you think" or "With a bittersweet laugh and a cry/
I exclaim for all to hear the tale") really powerful. And how you've started the poem: "I was there when he died", great impact, really strong. really beautiful verses
